The Arado Ar 234C was the worlds first four turbojet-powered flying machine to be built in series. But it was more than that, and its design and testing raised great hopes among the Nazis. The Ar 234 was nothing less than Adolf Hitlers long awaited Englander Bomber. Powered by four BMW 003A-1 turbojet engines, with a combined thrust of 7,040 pounds, early test results indicated that it could reach speeds of over 550 mph even when loaded with tons of high explosive bombs and/or guided missiles. This complete illustrated history contains over 570 photographs and line drawings.

About the Author
Myhra is a Rockefeller Foundation Fellow investigating the role of people and local communitites in energy project planning and decision-making. He is also a visiting lecturer in energy planning, Dept. of Urban and Regional Planning, George Washington University, Washington, D.C. A graduate of Northern State College, North Dakota State University, he did his doctoral work in planning at Princeton University. He was formerly a senior scientist with the environmental systems department of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

Incredible book on a rare aircraft

Only 19 Arado 234C's were made in WW2. This is a four engine version of the Arado 234B, Germany's Blitz bomber, of which 290 were made. This is a fascinating and detailed book not only of the Ar 234C, but German aviation in WW2.
The author goes into all of the history that led up to the development of the world's faster jet bomber of 1945. It shows how advanced German aircraft were and why the British, Americans and Soviets were so anxious to get their hands on every plane and every scientist or engineer who created these planes.
Line drawings, scale models, rare photographs not only of this plane, but many different German bombers, bomb types, cannon used for defense, engine types. It also has many drawings of versions the Germans would have built had they more time or resources.
This jet bomber is a small niche in aviation history, but the book is well worth buying for aviation enthusiasts.
