great look at volunteers

Trying to get people to volunteer in the church can be a painful and frustrating task. Quite often, if a volunteer does step up, it is often by default. "If no one else will do it then I will!" is often the less than enthusiastic response. This scene of tired and frustrated workers in the church leaves the church feeling drained of the ministry God has called it to. However, this book is a refreshing look at how to get volunteers on board and to create an atmosphere of excitement. While book may seem a bit too organizational at times, nevertheless it is a valuable resource for those working with volunteers in the church and other places. A must read!

Helped me understand where I'm lacking...

This was a great resource as I help to lead our church and youth ministry into a new season of volunteer-based leadership. What a unique and effective approach to understanding the differences between generations as Jonathan and his father, Thomas, co-authored the book. Thanks a lot, guys.

Must-have for volunteer recruiters or manager

This book has been very helpful to me in managing volunteers. It goes beyond the typical generational model of volunteer recruitment and looks at many other important considerations including recruitment, retention, and dealing with problem volunteers. A must-read if you do that sort of thing.
