Informative Resource by Experts

Wonderful resource. The only book I've found that concentrates on Northeast US/Canada Indian baskets. Packed with hundreds of excellent color photos. Many close-ups. Between the photos and the actual lists of specific characteristics to look for to help identify Northeast baskets by region, I've already figured out I have a couple of Iroquois cornhusk baskets, along with a Great Lakes birchbark and a southern New England wood splint basket. A couple of my others are from northern New England and Canada.
The book is a wealth of information for the collector, but also just fun to look at. You may well find that your mother's old family sewing basket is actually Indian-made. A final section of the book is devoted to some current Northeastern Indian basketmakers who have taken the traditional craft to an art. There is also a nice list of resources included (other reading, videos, websites, and relevant museums). Awesome book.
