Amazing! Be careful!

"Dangerous Devotions for Guys" is an absolutely must-read - must-own - must-use teaching tool for any youth group leader, or parent for that matter. This wonderful book by Tim Shoemaker gives Biblically-based lessons for life and some incredibly dangerous and/or disgusting hands-on exercises that will stick in any young man's head. These activities are amazing! Frankly, I was blown away with how well the activities complimented the lessons that were being taught. For example, to teach the concept of how God can use each of us although we are different, the author suggests having a water gun fight (with different sized guns) - he also suggests setting up a target to shoot at if it's an issue for the guys to get wet. And that's one of the tame exercises. This is truly an amazing read! I think any young man - and many young women - would really enjoy and learn from the ideas in this book. What a creative way to bring kids to God.

After doing Vicki Courtney's His Girl video series for girls, we looked an looked for something similar for sons, and came up with this as about the only option.
Perfect for dads to lead a small group, it spells out everything to do, even reminds you to send an email about the next group, etc. I think the author said he did it with his son even as a 12th grader; some of the topics are a bit mature (but very appropriate), we are doing this with a small group of 9th graders and their dads, as a springboard to sharing values with the next generation. Great ideas for youth groups as well. The activities can be a bit messy, not just for a classroom setting.
